More migrants

Small Marbled

I was so close to missing this one. Kicking out the moths last night, this little chap was sat on the top of the trap having gone undetected by me and the sparrows all day. It took some time to ID it as I spent most of my time looking through books on Pyralids. Very easy to be overlooked as a micro.

  1. Had one too! well done, this must have flown over at a similiar time I think, I should think yours is first for the County? mine was the 2nd for Hertfordshire and not the first boohoo

  2. Hi Ben, I saw that you had one also. Excellent little moths aren't they! Looking in the book mine was the second county record. Can't remember the date but think it was in the nineties. The Rannoch Looper was also the second county record but that time the first county record was 2 days before. My Coleophora adjunctella is the only county first so far this year. It's shaping up to be a potentially good migrant year so maybe more come...
