New hoverfly Merodon equestris

High pressure is building as it draws closer off the Atlantic. A sunny day with temperatures almost to be called warm. Added to the list today were Common Shore Crab, Grey Sallow, Goatsbeard, Common Gromwell, Green Sawfly, Bactra lancealana and Alabonia geoffrella. Best however was walking the dog this evening around the block and seeing a hoverfly land on a leaf. At first it looked like a bee but closer inspection revealed a hoverfly. It was a new species for me Merodon equestris.
